In my previous article, I’d mentioned about the identity crisis that men are currently facing. On one hand they are expected to carry out the traditional role of a Protector and a Provider, and on the other hand, they are also expected to take newer roles as a homemaker. However, as these two identities are strikingly different from each other, a lot of men are finding it very difficult to make through it, many more are living a life of denial and somehow dragging through it, quite of lot unfortunate ones commit suicide or slip into depression. All in all, the male identity needs to be redefined seriously. And this article is going to talk about that. Before trying to redefine the male identity we will briefly analyze what’s the current identity all about and where does it fail in the current scenario? For years together, it’s the men who have done the most risky jobs and have been doing so as they have bestowed upon with titles like the “The Knight in Shining Armor”, the Protector and the Provider. And they have taken a lot of responsibilities upon them often sacrificing their own lives and putting family before self. And most of the time they do not even spend for themselves or enjoy their lives rather put the happiness of their family before themselves and in return all they get is abuse, misandry and more and more responsibilities and no protection or rights. And all this is happening because of the present confused male identity which is to an extent highly provocative, predictable and controllable. Everyone knows that a man will always be logical and will do anything to protect his reputation and ego and will rarely be vague or demanding and takes undue advantage of that, to which a man is oblivious.
