Men often complain about their issues – at least, of late they have started doing so after their abuse touched phenomenal levels. However, as still the issue of men’s rights is in its infancy the concept has not seeped in and solutions to men’s problems are far to seek. And most of the times it is the male identity – the way it has evolved over history – has a lot to do with the way men are. It is a fact that men have a lot of problem sharing their problems and it is also a fact that they have a bigger problem accepting the fact that they have a problem. As a men’s rights activist, I was thinking about it and suddenly I recollected about Sir Isaac Newton – one of the greatest scientists and mathematicians the world has ever seen. Newton has been at the backbone of the backbone of current technological and scientific progress by giving revolutionary things to the world like, the concept of gravity, calculus and many more to count. However, his most treasured contribution in my opinion is his concept of gravity – not because of its profound technological and scientific implications – but because of Newton’s methodology to arrive at the concept. We all are very well aware of the famous APPLE INCIDENT, wherein Newton was sitting under a tree and suddenly an apple fell on him from the top and instead of eating it – something struck him. It was an inquiry – Why did the apple come down? Why did it not go up? And Newton had no answers to that. None had. This led to Newton thinking over it. And he went so deep in his thinking over it, that when he emerged back, he had the answer with him – The Concept of Gravity. Similarly, men also need to think that when there are so many abused men all over the world, why is gender stereotyping unidirectional and anti-male. Coming back to Newton, the reason he could go so deep into his thoughts was two-fold:-
Similarly, in order to solve their problems men need to drop their existing knowledge of the world around them and create emptiness – quintessentially telling them that “They Don’t Know”. They also need to challenge their first basic instinct. And obviously the next question comes is – what is a man’s first basic instinct? It is the instinct to Protect and Provide and take Responsibility for all around him be it his parents, siblings, wife, children etc. And until and unless men do not challenge this and ask back the society – Why do I need to protect and provide – the society around them will continue in its deep slumber ignoring men, their issues and their rights. Hence the Basic Challenge before men’s rights activists is to Challenge Their Basics. To create link towards this article on your website, copy and paste the text below in your page.
