Today’s article a day on Wemen is dedicated to Fathers. Well the fact almost says it. Fathers are men and since it is a Man’s World, as they call it, and so there is no need for men’s rights and similarly where is the need for a father’s rights? When it comes to giving custody to mothers, the courts are very prompt, but when it comes to giving even visitation rights to fathers, the courts have to listen to what the mother says about the father and then generally believe it. Now this happened with a very high profile case. The custody of the child was given to the mother who had married her lover after betraying and divorcing her husband. And the reason cited was that there was no woman in the house of the man. However, liberty was given to the man to file the case with changed circumstances. Later the man gets remarried just to satisfy the courts that he can take care of his daughter since the courts think a man can never take care of children. Now since his circumstances have changed, he files a fresh application seeking custody of his daughter and again the question of maintainability comes, whereas in a similar case a custody given to father was reversed when the mother wanted her child back. So where is the question of it being a man’s world, for when it comes to woman, or a mother specifically, all rules are bent to pamper the mother whereas for a father, the rules are applied over and over again albeit redundantly. When a custody given to a father can be reversed, on changed circumstances, why can’t the same principle apply for custody given to a mother? And still worse, this whole drama is going on in the Supreme Court of India with high profile influential lawyers involved who should be solving terrorism issues and not these petty family disputes and ego battles. What the courts and the society do not understand is that they are creating a fatherless society. And what harm does a fatherless society do to humanity can only be seen from the following shocking statistics. The feeling of incompleteness of family develops inherent insecurity in the children as a result of which they develop complex personality imbalances and the result is already present before us in the form of statistics from the United States. Due to a large number of fatherless children there, studies have shown that such children are:- · 5 times more likely to commit suicide · 32 times more likely to run away from home. · 20 times more likely to have behavioral disorders · 14 times more likely to commit rape. · 9 times more likely to drop out of high school. · 10 times more likely to abuse chemical substances (become drug addicts) · 9 times more likely to end up in a state-operated institution. · 20 times more likely to end up in prison. · 3 million teenage girls have sexually transmitted diseases · At least 1 out of 4 teenagers (between 14years to 19years) suffers from sexually transmitted diseases.
