Politics of appeasement - A concern for Congress PDF Print E-mail

The politics of appeasement that Congress has been playing for all these years since Independence may have worked for it in the 49 0f 62 years that it has ruled since 1947; however, the price has been paid by the nation. And this price is evident from the hatred that various people have developed about the Congress party and this hatred is not an individual one, spread among masses, but is being manifested in a more dangerous form of a fringe group getting formed or Baazigars being formed.

Examples of these fringe groups are Save Indian Family Foundation, Sri Ram Sene, etc. And examples of Baazigars are the scribe Jarnail Singh who expressed his anger without thinking of consequences. Just imagine a scenario wherein most of the people must have turned Baazigars and will take on the system in their own way. I can only call it an animal society and if Congress continues with its politics of appeasement, the day is not far when the society actually becomes animal society. First Congress created a divide by giving away reservations and appeasing the down-trodden at the cost of the country's progress and rights of general people. Then it created communal tensions by appeasing the Muslims. Finally it incited a gender war by appeasing a section of morally bankrupt women with its flurry of anti-male, anti-husband and anti-family laws in the name of Women Empowerment.

And so and so forth, in the last 62 years, all the Congress party has done is to create divisions in the society either in the name of caste, religion or gender. And as a result, an incident as trivial as shoe throwing by an ordinary citizen, forces the Chairperson of Congress to reconsider nominations. Jarnail, an ordinary non-famous citizen has shot to instant and exponential stardom. And many people have expressed their happiness over Congress getting affected adversely in the issue and these people are not necessarily the supporters of BJP, however, they are anti-Congress is for sure.

2009 Elections should be a very good learning lesson for Congress to desist from further appeasement and divisive policies and ideologies. Stop creating more cornered fringe groups like Harassed Husbands and give a thought to men's problems as well and look towards formation of a society where there is no need for fringe groups like Save Indian Family Foundation to exist.

Men’s Rights – Perspiration or Inspiration?

As I think about the today's theme - it reminds me of Thomas Edison, the man who invented the electric bulb. He had made a famous statement "Things are 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration"

Same applies to men's rights movement as well. It is a matter of constant awareness campaign and hitting at our opponents and proponents of male abuse. Contrary to popular belief, it is 3 times easier to abuse a male than a female because males have no support structure and male abuse is accepted by the society as social service.

Follow Yourself; Not Tradition

As I have repeatedly mentioned in my articles that cultures have deceived men, acting as vultures. Men have been used as the FREE ATM MACHINE, the UNPAID BODYGUARD, the de-facto PROTECTOR and PROVIDER, etc. by cultures and in the process have been reduced to disposable entities. Their abuse is considered a social service now.

And men, the way they are, are in a great way responsible for this. They rarely challenge or question conventions, traditions, histrionics and stereotypes thrust upon them. They do not feel the need to fight for their rights - only a handful of them are doing though scores are getting victimized. They do not demand for their space in the society and accept things as offered to them.

To this effect, today I take the example of Skandagupta - the great emperor of India. His stepmother has him sent to Ujjain so that her son can be made the emperor. He obeys her. But then the Huns attack India under the leadership of Attila the Hun. The army of Skandagupta calls him back as they needed his expertise.
