Is it a crime to be a father? PDF Print E-mail

Is it a crime to be a man? Is it a crime to be a husband? Is it a crime to be a father? If not, then I wonder why so many men (men in general and married men in particular) are committing suicides in large numbers? Every year the number of married men committing suicides increases at an increasing rate. The rate of increase of suicide of married men is close to 4% whereas the population increases at a rate close to 1%. This indicates that men are committing suicides at 4 times the rate they are born. It is an alarming trend that is hitherto being ignored by the society, media, lawmakers and the executive machinery.

Close to 57,000 married men committed suicide in 2007 as per statistics by National Crime Records Bureau. Figures for 2006 and 2005 are close to 55,000 and 52,000 and contrary to popular belief, these suicides are not happening due to financial reasons. In fact, Domestic Violence is the numero uno killer for men, especially married men and fathers contributing 27% to the suicides. And still the judiciary is insensitive to the despicable situation of men. Yesterday one more father laid down his life at the altar of "Women Empowerment" since he was not allowed to visit his son by his estranged ex-wife. This incident clearly shows the insensitive attitude of the society and the judiciary towards a father's feelings. None of them have the spirits to question a mother as to why she is not allowing the father and son to meet, which is the natural right of both?

The judiciary needs to be sensitized to a father's feelings and that when custody orders are not respected by mothers, than not punishing mothers in such cases leads to setting of wrong precedents and pampers wrong people to commit more crime.

In this case, even if the culprits are booked for abetment of suicide ends of justice will not be met, as fathers are continued to be tortured over custody issues internationally and till the time errant mothers are not punished for depriving the child of a father's love and care and a father of the feeling of belongingness towards his son justice will be a far cry.

Will the judiciary take responsibility for creating an orphan which could have been well prevented?

Our defunkt society perhaps doesn't consider a child to be orphan if the father is dead... The child becomes orphan only
when the mother is dead, and the child is either left alone in the cruel world, or even if the child is left with the
father alone.
No matter how good the father take care of his kid, everyone always keeps pestering him, that nothing can
replace a mother.
Does anyone ever say the same thing to the mother, that nothing can replace a father? No. Why?
Isn't
the father equally responsible for bringing the child to this world? Did the mother conceive like an earthworm?
Why are
all fathers treated as a Criminal? If it was a crime to have given birth to a new life, then why don't you make a new
law to prevent that 'CRIME'?

Being a simple men is as much erroneous
as being a lone deer or lamb in the jungle full of predators.

Manhood is
vulnerable and it is merely a business oppurtunity for someone else. Perhaps, it is less painful when
viewed this way.

Men’s Rights – Perspiration or Inspiration?

As I think about the today's theme - it reminds me of Thomas Edison, the man who invented the electric bulb. He had made a famous statement "Things are 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration"

Same applies to men's rights movement as well. It is a matter of constant awareness campaign and hitting at our opponents and proponents of male abuse. Contrary to popular belief, it is 3 times easier to abuse a male than a female because males have no support structure and male abuse is accepted by the society as social service.

Follow Yourself; Not Tradition

As I have repeatedly mentioned in my articles that cultures have deceived men, acting as vultures. Men have been used as the FREE ATM MACHINE, the UNPAID BODYGUARD, the de-facto PROTECTOR and PROVIDER, etc. by cultures and in the process have been reduced to disposable entities. Their abuse is considered a social service now.

And men, the way they are, are in a great way responsible for this. They rarely challenge or question conventions, traditions, histrionics and stereotypes thrust upon them. They do not feel the need to fight for their rights - only a handful of them are doing though scores are getting victimized. They do not demand for their space in the society and accept things as offered to them.

To this effect, today I take the example of Skandagupta - the great emperor of India. His stepmother has him sent to Ujjain so that her son can be made the emperor. He obeys her. But then the Huns attack India under the leadership of Attila the Hun. The army of Skandagupta calls him back as they needed his expertise.
