In continuation with my previous article, this article takes a sneak peek at the fact, as to why men shy away from associating themselves with men's rights issues, the way they do for women's rights, for the fear of being branded as Anti-Women. Most men think, or rather are of the perception that if they talk of men's issues or associate themselves with men's rights, they will be branded as Anti-Women and thus shy away from associating themselves with women. Perception is different that reality: What people do not realize that the grey area of men's and women's problems is very small, and those problems may not necessarily be gender issues, but rather social issues. By and large, both men and women face quite different problems although the areas they face those problems in may overlap and this is particularly due to the fact that men and women are different, think differently, have different needs and different perceptions as well. Validation of men's problem is not invalidation of women's problems: I will give one example here. The dowry laws in India and the Domestic Violence laws in the West as well as India are highly misused against men as they are made victims of false cases under these provisions, primarily because these laws are based on assumption and emotional quotient. However, whenever the issue is raised, it is not addressed saying that the misuse is low and genuine victims are more. Hence the issue is neglected. While the question of genuine victims vis-à-vis false cases is more clearly explained by suicide statistics which is more for men internationally, this not being the subject matter of the article I will proceed to explain that even assuming there are some genuine women victims, how addressing the issue of false cases, i.e. validation of men's problems is not invalidation of women's problems. When a false case is filed, which means the allegations are false, nothing of the cock and bull story, taken straight out of a harassment template, is true and hence the victim and the perpetrator here have swapped roles. Here the victim is the man and the perpetrator is the woman. Protecting such victimized men from such cruel women can in no way come in the way of justice for a genuine woman victim. Men do need to have their rights: They say it's a Male Dominated World. I fail to understand how since if that had that been the case, we would not have had double the number of men committing suicide than women. If we look only at the top, certainly more are there, but we need to look at the other side as well, the bottom. Who takes more risks? Who dies more? Who has the primary financial responsibility? And who has less social support? If we take both the scenarios into consideration, we will find more men at both the extremes. In such a scenario, first of all it's not a Male Dominated World, since that view came from a construed and partial vision and men do have their share of unaddressed/unrecognized problems, which if not looked into, forms infringement of their rights. And thus men certainly do need to have their rights and it is perfectly OK to be a men's rights activist and if being so one needs to be ruthless with cruel women, then so be it. But from no point does that mean that Pro Men is Anti Women. Quote this article on your siteTo create link towards this article on your website, copy and paste the text below in your page.
