Are fathers born criminals? Well the courts do think like that. Recently the Supreme Court of India denied child custody to a father and instead gave the child to the grandmother of the child. At the same time it also re-iterated the fact that a father is a natural guardian of the child but denied giving custody of the child to the father, contradicting its own views in a single shot. However, a deeper issue at concern here pertains to the moral degradation of the judiciary affecting social health and the future generation. With changing socio-economic scenarios, marriages have become unstable and divorces are increasing as the current generation is becoming more and more intolerant, especially women whose expectations are skyrocketing. In wake of increasing divorces, more and more children are getting separated from their parents, especially fathers as custody orders favor mothers in 99% of the cases. One father is better than hundred teachers, is the famous adage that explains the importance of fathers in a child's life. But somewhere the judiciary has forgotten to implement the adage in practicality as it routinely rejects custody to fathers based on their own presumption, a presumption that fathers cannot take care of children. And moreover, there is no basis of their presumption; mostly the judgment comes on the basis of the complaint filed by the mother against the fathers. What these judges fail to understand is that when couples are warring to get rid of each other, it is kiddish to expect the couples to behave with maturity, logically and ethically. But still, they believe the allegations filed against fathers by their respective wives and based on the allegations pass orders against fathers restraining access to their children but at the same time, treating them as FREE ATM MACHINE by way of forcing fathers to pay maintenance to their children even when they have no access to them. In addition to the father's abuse, this is child abuse. Access to both the parents and a sustainable parent-child relationship is a child's natural right and no one has any right to take that away from any child. However, no one questions the moral crimes committed by the judiciary in name of Women Empowerment. I will end the article with a short note on the perils of creation of a fatherless society with figures from US based on a study done. Children brought up sans a father are
Fatherless society leads to more crime in the society as the children miss a father figure, a role model in their life and when they compare themselves with other children they feel all the more frustrated, deprived and thus develop a slow drift towards criminal mentality leading to increased crime, drug abuse, juvenile crime, STDs, teenage pregnancies. And the most saddening part is that a Systematic Creation of a Fatherless Society is underway, which can only be countered by a strong, aggressive and sustained Father's Rights Movement. Calling upon all fathers to stand up for their children and for their rights and sensitize the system on this Father's Day 21st June 2009 about the need for implementing Shared Parenting.
