Before I get into the actual theme of the article, I will narrate, in brief, a typical scene in a romantic Bollywood movie. Raj, the hero of the movie, is living his life just like any other ordinary boy till he chances upon Simran with whom he falls in love at first sight and also gives her a name from his side - Senorita. What follows after that, is anyone's imagination. Raj does everything to gain Senorita's attention and creates situations to be around her. Simran initially does not like him, but slowly starts liking him, since Raj is handsome, smart, charming, naughty and attractive. However, just like any other ordinary girl, she does not reveal herself rather feigns discomfiture at Raj's nigh. However, this behavior of hers does not disappoint Raj who accepts this as a challenge to enter Simran's heart; who has already entered his heart with a virtue where she has least contribution from her side (her beauty), exactly as predicted by Simran who wants Raj to struggle to prove himself before she gives her heart to him. Without initiating the debate about the righteousness/acceptability of the above scenario, it's a fact that it has been depicted in the movie as such, because not only that it is a social reality but also the audience likes to see it this way because this is how the society is conditioned to behave.
Men are supposed to fight to get the woman they love, while the woman will go with the man who impresses her to the best of his efforts and capability. However, what men do not realize is the flip side of this behavioral pattern. The man, since he has already not only fallen in love with the girl, but also expressed it, without knowing the girl, does not know what he is entering into. While the girl, exactly knows not only the depth of the man's love, but also about his nature, thought process, positives, negatives, is already placed in a better position not only to take an informed decision about the man, but also knows how to control him and make him work for her good. Whilst, for the man, when finally he wins her over, feels victorious, heroic and chivalrous (having won his love over other men), the mystery called WOMAN unfolds and he slowly starts discovering the negative shades of her persona (which were already present) for which he is not prepared. Slowly he starts doubting his own decision about the woman and this dislike develops into an implicit frustration which reflects on the relationship as well. Ultimately, it is the man who is considered responsible for the failing relationship since he gets projected as violent, non-cooperative and someone who has changed. The woman also feels that the man used to give her more attention when he was wooing her and she having been wooed, the man is no longer interested in her. Again, here men are projected as non-committal in their relationships. All this can be well prevented only if men are more responsible and thoughtful before falling into love and going overboard to woo the woman. It is important to "Look before you leap and learn before you love". Quote this article on your siteTo create link towards this article on your website, copy and paste the text below in your page.
