As explained in "Chivalry for Men: a Necessary Evil", the typical male traits of chivalry, protector and provider are working against men in the current circumstances. The role of the Knight in Shining Armor is mostly exploited by women these days to make two men fight against each other and get her work done.
While one man is abused, the other feels heroic. Moreover, since male to male violence is accepted by the society without any qualms, no fingers are also raised and the woman goes away scot-free even after instigating and abetting violence. And in the process, both the men are befooled - one is abused, the other is dumped after the work is done. The woman feels empowered.
In fact, there is a competition amongst males to get females. While it is a psychological fact that both males and females need each other, irony of the fact is that while males compete with each other to get females; females initiate competition amongst males and go away with the best competing male. Males take it lying down while females get it lying down. The women feel empowered.
However, women empowerment as defined above is delusional and myopic. It is not at all empowerment in true sense. No empowerment can be true, total and complete without the realization of the sense of responsibility. As explained, in The Advantages of a working woman, how a responsible working woman can be a blessing in disguise; extending my idea on that, a woman who owns up the Primary Financial Responsibility should also be allowed to pay - that will mark for true women empowerment sans disempowerment of men.
Males feel an adrenaline rush when they see a victimized or a surrendered woman and feel superior. As a result they fall in love with a woman only when she is weak and inferior. The Knight in Shining Armor Syndrome works here. Even when men go on dates, the same logic applies here. They feel superior in paying and compete amongst themselves. The woman goes with the man who pays the most after the competition is over. The woman feels empowered - she feels, she has the power to make men dance around her and men do that even.
As long as men engage in competition to get females - they will keep paying price and also view women as weak - they will not engage in the fight for men's rights and join abused men. The day men realize this and allow the women to pay, be it in dates or in marriage, they will realize, the woman was never weak, it was just a delusional perception they'd been living in and recognize the need for men's rights.
This will boost the men's rights movement and men's issues would gain prominence leading to drastic reduction in men's suicides - currently which is almost double the suicide rate for women (in all age groups and all social strata) as the abused men would get a communication channel - which is missing currently. The absence of a communication channel is the biggest reason men commit suicide and the same can only be established if men realize that it's the already empowered women they are empowering. They can empower themselves by allowing women to take responsibility. This will also empower the women in true terms as well.

Let me quote your last para. You had said that men have no communication channels and openness in discussing their problems. While the society is undergoing a major transformation and women are liberated from their traditional roles, men are still expected to perform all of them! This is leading to frustration, confusion, dissatisfaction, anger and all other negative emotions among men which in-turn are the root cause of 90% of crimes that they commit on women be they eve-teasing, rape or molestation. The day women take responsibility for their liberation and empowerment, and clear the air of confusion, these crimes against women would come down sharply atleast by 50%. Hence, women themselves need to be responsible and take responsibility for their actions for their own good apart from the good of men and society in general. Afterall, what affects another human being in a social set-up is bound to affect another in the same society. Hence, the confusion, frustration, anger etc. among men as a result of lop-sided women's movement is bound to have its effects on women themselves! ITS HIGH TIME WOMEN PAY THE PRICE OF WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT!
As I think about the today's theme - it reminds me of Thomas Edison, the man who invented the electric bulb. He had made a famous statement "Things are 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration"
Same applies to men's rights movement as well. It is a matter of constant awareness campaign and hitting at our opponents and proponents of male abuse. Contrary to popular belief, it is 3 times easier to abuse a male than a female because males have no support structure and male abuse is accepted by the society as social service.
As I have repeatedly mentioned in my articles that cultures have deceived men, acting as vultures. Men have been used as the FREE ATM MACHINE, the UNPAID BODYGUARD, the de-facto PROTECTOR and PROVIDER, etc.by cultures and in the process have been reduced to disposable entities. Their abuse is considered a social service now.
And men, the way they are, are in a great way responsible for this. They rarely challenge or question conventions, traditions, histrionics and stereotypes thrust upon them. They do not feel the need to fight for their rights - only a handful of them are doing though scores are getting victimized. They do not demand for their space in the society and accept things as offered to them.
To this effect, today I take the example of Skandagupta - the great emperor of India. His stepmother has him sent to Ujjain so that her son can be made the emperor. He obeys her. But then the Huns attack India under the leadership of Attila the Hun. The army of Skandagupta calls him back as they needed his expertise.
