Movies, they say, often reflect our societies and are in a way a mirror of the society. And the movie guys (the script writers and the directors) are really smart, advanced and fast guys as they pick up controversial, totalitarian and dynamically changing views very fast. This is the reason most of my articles are inspired out of movies. This one's however, not fully ascribed to movie though it has a relation.
Raj works for a multinational company and is shocked to see his ex-girlfriend (who had aborted their unborn child in pursuit of career and prosperity) as the wife of his boss and is further shocked to receive a double promotion. Later he comes to know she wanted to exploit him sexually as she was not satisfied by her ‘old' husband. However, Raj, who is married now and loves his wife very much, refuses to give in.
Exasperated, his 'female' boss accuses him of sexual harassment and asks for his resignation. Raj does not take it lying down and files a sexual harassment case against her boss. However, media trial and social bias refuses to believe a man can be sexually harassed by a woman and calls Raj a rapist.
Now let's have a look at the second scenario. The news item here, shows how by putting a mere allegation of ‘touching', the woman beats the man in public and the society is also shouting, "Maaro maaro" (beat him, beat him). No investigation, no trial, no validation, only punishment.
What is the difference between the two scenarios? Let us take a potshot at both.
In the first one, the man alleges his female boss of sexual harassment and exploitation and he, in turn is accused of attempt to rape. In the second one, the woman alleges the man with ‘touching' and he is beaten up in open public. In the first case, because the society and our social hardwiring compounded with exaggerated media hype, find it difficult to believe that a woman can sexually exploit a man - the convenient route is taken and as per The Convenient Male Victim Theory the petitioning man was accused of a false allegation.
In the second case as the woman was the complainant and as the society entertains itself seeing women as victims, readily buys the story and allows the woman to punish the man as well by allowing her to take law into her own hands and all spineless men are watching the man being beaten with stones by the woman.
It's the mindset that is the real culprit. Because we believe something to be happening (due to audio-visual overdose of victimization of women and criminalization of men) and because we love our beliefs more than ourselves, we go out of our way either justifying our beliefs or prevent its falsification even at the cost of truth and justice. This mindset of Victim Women Criminal Men is the real hidden criminal which has led to the current chaotic social status.
And the crime committed by this mindset is ASSUMPTION. An assumption that the man must have done something or an assumption that a woman will not lie and must have suffered is what prevents us from either protecting our men or trying to find the root cause of allegations by women on men.
Till the time the society lives under the spell of its assumptions, biases and beliefs, men have no respite because all assumptions are anti-men. Men's rights and its awareness is the only solution. Men need to create new realities because existing realities have nothing to offer to men except for responsibilities and castration.
