Stereotypic, type-casted and ubiquitous projection of men as Aggressive Perpetrators and women as Submissive Victims both in the history and the media has led to social hardwiring to such an extent that men have become irrelevant and women have become over-relevant wherein serious-most issues of men are ignored and bogus issues of women are given unnecessary importance.
Women are pampered to be violent and aggressive and such a woman is considered bold. Moreover, women do not have to take any responsibility per se and thus they are free to be vague, unreasonable, demanding and unstructured. Also women are never sent for any risky jobs. Male bastions are being sought to broken whereas female bastions are not being broken which has led to chaos in the society.
Because of the projection of men as Aggressive Perpetrators and a volley of anti-male laws as explained in Gender Arsenal men tend to be making a lot of efforts to disprove their negative image and in the process become Over Protective about females and more often than not pass off abuse from females as gestures and also refrain from supporting a man against a woman. Compounded to this, the fact that because the society wants men to work like dogs and protect and provide it castrates its men emotionally since the age of 6 also works towards men becoming Over Protective.
As explained in Let the woman pay - the Price, women know very well how to make men compete amongst themselves in order to woo them. Added to this the tendency of men to over-protect women actually goes against them since it is very easy to trap the man in false allegations and jeopardize his protector identity. The man will keep running helter-skelter to prove he is innocent while the woman will have fun.
Women, on the other hand, have a free ride. Since they are projected as victims, they being violent is taken as a one-off behavior and thus encouraged. This encourages more and more women to be not only violent but also Over Offensive. Also an over-protective male is taken as a one-off behavior and thus encouraged. This encourages more and more men not only to be defensive but also over-protective.
One such example of an over-protective behavior has been depicted by Additional Sessions Judge R K Jain who has said in a judgment that earning capability of woman cannot be used to deny her maintenance. This is nothing but over-protectiveness. A woman who is capable of earning can easily maintain herself and it was her duty as well to make the marriage work and when it fails why only the man is made to pay the price.
Such behaviors encourage more women to go offensive on men while men would be put into defensive. And this is happening because there is no concept of men's rights currently. Choice is left to men. They can continue to pamper women the way R K Jain is doing and thus allow them to be Over Offensive while putting their own brethren on the Over Defensive.
